Career
My career so far has covered logistics, systems and project management. I spent five years in international logistics, managing my own portfolio of clients from the initial sales pitch through to the day-to-day management of consignments. I worked for the largest UK based logistics company and dealt with a diverse range of customers from small, independent companies to global car firms, BMW, to drop a name.
I graduated into a firm of system and lean process specialists before moving onto a consultancy dealing with financial information systems and software. My first project was at a FTSE100 firm, shepherding a company-wide software upgrade programme to completion. The core of my work dealt with the integrity of the system and restructuring the support documentation and processes.
I am currently consulting at a global print and information company implementing changes to their global consolidation tool, which draws together accounting figures and statistics from each child company. Much of the work I undertake is the management reporting aspect of accountancy interpreting and disseminating information from disparate sources such as reports, as well as developing tools for consolidation and checking purposes.
On a daily basis I implement real, tangible change: I analyse, evaluate and deliver improvements. My career has been tremendously varied in terms of the people I have worked with, for and against! Much of this broad experience has shaped my working practices and approach to tasks: communication is always key in any organisation. I deliver long-term sustainability for those I work for and with by developing the systems that inform, communicate and educate.
